Mollz, didn't cheese and crackers have a nickname we gave her?! Troll not troll? TNT? How is she?
I'm headed out for vacation on Monday for just under two weeks to Chile. My dog got attacked at daycare about 2 months ago so I was a little nervous about what I would do with him. On top of that, someone was breaking into someone in my building's place and just hanging out in there (how creepy??). Luckily my friend is just gonna watch the dog for me and stay, so that's a relief.
Christine, I solo vacationed for the first time this year -- I traveled alone quite a bit when I studied abroad but this was the first time I ever planned an entire vacation alone and it was GLORIOUS. I'm actually a little bit anxious about this vacation because it's with 4 ladies total and it's been a bit of a nightmare planning-wise. It will be fun when we get there, though.
Work is so nuts right now. Lots of dramz happening.

UGH. It was a big ordeal. By two boxers. I'm actually still pissed about it. Basically, that morning they went after him on the way in and I specifically asked the daycare to keep an eye on them and keep them apart as a result. The desk guy was dismissive and told me it was "probably just leash aggression". I said sure, maybe it was, but please keep an eye on them anyway. (Sidenote: I know dogs, homeskillet, I fostered them for ages, it wasn't leash aggression, it was just aggression). Allegedly they actually had to put a fence up between them all day so the dogs couldn't get to him. Fast forward to that night, I go to pick up my dog. There's a long hallway between the back area and the front area and two doors separating them. They ignored me for like 10 minutes so I was already annoyed. They called the back and asked them to send my dog out. A man walks in behind me but I wasn't really paying attention, until I heard them call for two dogs to be sent out. So they sent out his two dogs, with mine, into the hallway. So he was locked into the hallway with them. I immediately went to the door to get my dog and bring him forward so he wasn't trapped in the hallway and his dogs bum rushed me, knocked me over and went right for my dog. Staff did nothing to help, the guy couldn't control his dogs, I had to basically pull one dog off mine and he pulled the other off. He was mostly okay all things considered but they tore off his dew claw which wouldn't stop bleeding and he had to have surgery the next day on his paw. THEN he had a severe reaction to the pain meds and they thought he was going into kidney failure. Basically it was a shit show. And on top of that the daycare told me it was my fault for not telling them not to send the dogs out if I knew they were aggressive, even though they admitted they broke policy by sending more than one dog out at a time which they aren't supposed to do. UHHHHHHHHHHHH?  |

OMG Meg that sounds absolutely horrifying. Did the owner of the Boxer cover the vet bills? Was he apologetic? Did the daycare do anything to help after the fact? Have you brought him back there?

That's awful about your dog! I am so sorry to hear that.
I think this is my 7th or 8th year going on vacation solo, and it's always to the same place. I seriously count down to it every year! The only part I hate is using the restroom in the airport and maneuvering in a stall with my suitcase and backpack.

OMG Meg that sounds absolutely horrifying. Did the owner of the Boxer cover the vet bills? Was he apologetic? Did the daycare do anything to help after the fact? Have you brought him back there? I can't even imagine... NO! In fact, that asshat has an instagram account just for his stupid boxers (which are named desi and luci) and I messaged him on there and he BLOCKED ME. The waiver at the daycare place says that he isn't responsible for anything his dogs do to mine, you're fully responsible for your own pet and your own pet alone and the daycare place isn't responsible either (how's that for some crap?) so he refused to pay. He will never go to that daycare again. They also killed a dog last year and lied about it. I'm still debating contacting that owner's lawyer just on principal. They have insurance for a reason, and they admitted their staff broke their own policy. ETA: I'm not actually a stalker. The daycare place wouldn't give me his contact information but he couldn't stop talking about his instagram account before the dogs came out (it has like thousands of followers, not a joke) so I decided I'd just reach out to him that way. |

That's absolutely insane and would make me ragey beyond belief. I feel like they need to take some kind of responsibility for what happened. Quite honestly, if my dog ATTACKED another dog, I would pay for the medical bills just as a decent HUMAN, regardless of what the forms I signed when I sent my dogs to the daycare said. Ugh Ugh ugh! You should contact the lawyer. Maybe they will pay for the medical bills to keep you quiet! |

ANYWAYS. Let's talk about happy stuff. Or not happy stuff but other stuff.
I'm in an open office and I really hate it. Some people have kind of offices, but it's a farce. You can hear everything said in them. Although I will say, I got used to it more quickly than I thought I would.

OMG Meg, I am so sorry. You need to pursue some sort of action against the daycare. That whole thing is just wrong. I am so furious for you! And yes, Cheese and Crackers was TNT I think. I can testify to the fact that she is NOT a troll but she does act like one even IRL.  |

This is why I'm not going on any vacations this year! I really want to level the other side yard that we have, but we'd need a three sided retaining wall, a shit ton of dirt, and a new fence over there too. So, easily a 20k project. I can dream, I guess. |

Mollz - there are plenty of things around the house that we've done ourselves, but I think investing in a new fence that I want to last a long time is best left to the pros. I mean, I know it's probably do-able to DIY a fence install, but I think we've taken on enough DIY projects around our house at this point (including painting the kitchen cabinets...which we started last April and are still not done. Almost done, but not completely).

I am really glad I do not own a home.
Mel, your "puppy" has gotten so big! I guess he's really not a puppy anymore since you've had him for like, what, a year or two now?
I have so much to do today - it's my last day before a long vacation and I do NOT want to do anything. I worked until 10 last night, went straight to bed, got up this morning and started right back into it. Luckily I'm working from home today.

beautifulmess Adulting is definitely expensive. We built a house a year and a half ago and it's still not fully furnished because it's so much bigger than our last house. Plus we're adding a fence and we really need stairs off the deck because the builder wouldn't do it. But apparently stairs (not wooden ones, the Trex kind) are more than the fence which is insane. Meg-The puppy is huge. I think he's about 85-90 pounds now, and he just turned a year at the end of January. He's also decided now that he's going to be a couch/lap dog. He seriously cracks me up every day.

Meg, that's so scary about your dog! I've been wanting to go to Chile. I have a couple friends/coworkers who spent time living there. Apparently their Spanish accents are kind of difficult to understand, even for fluent speakers.
I have another week left here and I'm going to do dick all. I have a meeting in the city tomorrow, so I am leaving at 8AM and basically get to skip most of the work day.

Update: I got home and forgot to put the lasagna in the oven. So DH had frozen pizza for dinner, and I had chicken tenders (baked at home) at like 9PM.
This is my life now.
