Well, I had a Naan pizza for dinner at like 8:30pm. Lol. It was delicious actually.
I am trying to be productive today because I have a bunch of stuff to get done before I go on vacation. There is one part of my job that can wait until I get back, but there is another part that someone else would get stuck with if I don't get ahead on it. Unfortunately, the part I need to do in advance is the part I don't like as much. Lol. So, I have been doing it for a week now. But, my reward is my vacation! Woot!

I'm going back to a WW meeting tomorrow morning. I'm excited and nervous. I'm at my highest weight ever.

I actually love owning a home. It's so nice to know that I can put effort into decorating/changing things and it will be something that I can enjoy for years. I would LOVE to be able to build a house, but unfortunately in North Jersey it takes at least 700k to build anything decent/worth building. I'm not poor, but that's out of the budget. So, I'm doing what I can to make the house mine!
Mel - I LOVE Trex decks. We have a small deck off our living room that I eventually want to tear down and make a bigger one with Trex. It's on the to-do list for somewhere down the line.
Mollz - good luck at the meeting! I feel like I maybe need to head down that road too. I'm an online member, but I really haven't been following the program. The threat of an in-person weekly weigh in might be enough to convince me, but I'm not sure.

Good luck Mollz! I haven't been to meetings in several years but used to really enjoy them, especially with the right leader.
I am constantly thinking about how buying a place would be smart, especially before interest rates go up more and prices continue to go up. I plan to stay in Philly for the foreseeable future so I don't think that would be the issue. I think I'm just too lazy to do all the work on my own. I hate sounding all bad-feminist but I have no skills and am not handy so I'd have to get someone to do even small repairs. Also, I pay like 3 cents in rent (I literally pay less than what many of my friends pay in property taxes) so renting and having more money free to put towards my loans is appealing. I'm more inclined to buy a place to use as a rental property and then maybe at some point move into it, but being a landlord seems like its own set of hassles!

I keep thinking I should buy a rental property. But that also seems like a lot of work. Especially when I'm about 6000 miles away.

KT, can I ask more about how you got into international living? I think I read you are in Turkey...? Or Jordan?

Good luck, Mollz! I just rejoined online last month. Not doing well so far, but that's the sweet tooth and lack of motivation's fault, not WW! I'm up almost 50 pounds (Out of the 80 I lost) from when I was at goal. I swore I would never let this happen, but antidepressants for pain and steroid cream took away all the food-related OCD and willpower I had, and here I am. :/

I swore I would never let this happen This is the worst part - and it's so hard to overcome. I don't know how many times I have said "this is the last time." Try not to beat yourself up about it. We are all too hard on ourselves! I'm struggling with the same thing, and I know that I'm not going to be able to move forward until I stop letting that disappointment hold me back. <3

Erin, I know the feeling of losing willpower! This time I'm going to try to be more gentle with myself while hopefully still losing weight.

I spent until 2 a.m. fussing with my new phone last night but somehow got to work earlier than I did yesterday. Working with both phones side by side, it really showcased that I was indeed in need of an upgrade. Still have lots to learn with it but impressed with the S8 so far.
Re: houses. I am about to hit my savings goal to feasibly start to look at townhomes/condos or fixer upper stand alone homes. I am going to hold out making a move until late fall or winter to add more to savings and to hopefully be able to find better deals. Bonus if I can find a place that has future renting potential. It's all exciting yet scary to think about.

I'm a lawyer, I have a good job, my husband makes a decent living, but it was VERY hard for us to be in a place to be able to buy a home.

I know, I didn't realize just how bad I've become until I needed to wear some of my summer clothes last weekend in the heat! Yikes! Shopping time! That's a good point. It took 8 years to get to goal with a few maintenance breaks in between. Even if my goal is to just "not gain" each week, that would be a huge improvement. We can do this, we have done this. It's not a race and doesn't need to happen overnight! I have a boyfriend who is HORRIBLE for my weight. Can't cook anything without 2-4 sticks of butter in it, pushes the alcohol, and when I say I need to refocus on working on myself, argues that he's a foodie. Sigh. I end up eating at my place most nights instead, and then get the guilt trip for it!

Erin, I know the feeling of losing willpower! This time I'm going to try to be more gentle with myself while hopefully still losing weight. I think one of the hardest parts is knowing that I WILL lose weight if I work the program (I've already done it, and once I get into a groove it's not terribly hard to stick to it), but it's getting to the point when it's not too hard that's sometimes too hard, if you know what I mean. I don't WANT to have to work the program, I just want it to magically work on it's own. Which doesn't make sense and isn't realistic!

I am lucky that I do not have to worry about a lease. I could theoretically buy a home that I could fix up if the price is right and then move in when enough work is done however long it takes. It wouldn't be Property Brothers level of renovating but would address the basic wear and tear of the home.

I'm 5 weeks out from my WLS and I'm bracing myself for the oncoming stall. It's normal to stall between weeks 3-6 and I've definitely seen the scale slow down a bit. I only lost a pound this week, so I'm thinking my stall is coming. On the bright side, I fit into my spring coat again, and I had to tighten my fitbit band 2 notches. I'm hoping I'll be released to work out next week, as long as they can figure out why I'm still achy. No vacations for me this year, DBF and I have more work to do on the house. We need a new roof over our garage, new gutters across the front of the house, plus I want to rip out our old, shitty front door and replace it with a fiberglass one. I'm really looking forward to tearing out the old garden and putting a new one in. We bought the house last summer so gardening season was basically over. I'm looking forward to making my own garden

So, I gained a bunch of weight doing intuitive eating. I was okay with it b/c I also did a lot of work on my body image and I was emotionally in a better place. But, I recently was diagnosed with hypertension and had some wake up calls about the practical implications of my size. Anyway, I started working with a new nutritionist and it has been really amazing. My nutritionist told me that I should be eating 1600 calories a day to lose 6lbs a month. (I was eating less than 1200 on weight watchers, which she basically told me was starving myself). I'm not actually counting calories yet, she basically gave me a broad plan to follow that will keep me in that range. I find following this broad plan pretty easy and way less stressful that WW or any other diet. It is much more realistic. I have been losing weight following the plan. I have no idea what will happen when I get down into a more healthy range, as I am for sure obese, but for now its working well. And, the nutritionist is free through my insurance! So, if you have insurance, check and see if you get any nutritionist benefits.

A nutritionist isn't a bad thought. I saw one twice when I was 18 and she was pretty much useless, so I joined WW. I'd assume they aren't all created equal though! I am making an effort to give up gluten for my Hashimoto's and fertility purposes. Next is sugar...but it probably wouldn't hurt to meet with one to see what other suggestions they may have.

misserin - I had similar thoughts on nutritionists previously, but this one has been really helpful. I went to a local practice that is just a group of nutritionists. There are several people that work out of the office and they each have a different specialization of sorts. I chose the one that I felt would fit with my goals best. It has worked out well.

Suzie, that's a great idea, going to the nutritionist. Thanks for that!
Birds, how much weight have you lost since your surgery?

Thanks, I'll look and see who else is out there for options and what's covered. The one I saw threw a diabetic diet at me, said everyone should follow this, and that was that.
I mean, I do want to lose weight, but my health priorities are a bit different now than when I was 18 and thought it was awesome to eat tons of ice cream, stay in point range, and lose weight! lol

suzieq52083 It sounds like you've found a really great nutritionist. I also enjoy having a "familiar" face in the fitness challenge. mollz33 I work for a global construction company. I started in Australia, now I work in Georgia, but I could walk to Turkey in about 20 minutes right now if I wanted! Tbilisi is a really fun city to live in as a expat. I enjoyed the 7 months I spent there. I'm moving closer when I get back from my holiday, so I'm pretty excited to have some weekends in the summertime spent there!

I mean, I do want to lose weight, but my health priorities are a bit different now than when I was 18 and thought it was awesome to eat tons of ice cream, stay in point range, and lose weight! lol I feel the same way. I've realized how much better my body feels when I'm eating more healthily and more balanced. So now I focus more on fiber and protein than I do on calories because if I'm low on those, I feel more sluggish and also less satisfied. I also think, mostly, when I feel OK and focus on those things, the calories more or less fall into place. Working out is the same way. I like feeling fit and if I don't get my heart rate way up and work up a good sweat several days a week, I feel off. Exercise does very little or nothing for my weight, but I feel so much better. Getting "old" isn't all bad!

I know I feel better when I eat better too. It's been a bad few months with WAY too many treats. Got through the holidays, birthday and Easter, so now it's time to get back on the wagon. Doctor's appointments coming up in June, so that should be some motivation for me! I agree with the gym. It doesn't seem to do anything for me weight wise anymore, but mentally I feel SO much better when I go four times a week, and somehow way less flabby!

I feel best when I don't eat too many carbs or too much sugar, but it is reeeeally hard, because sugar is delicious. I stopped even paying attention to fat, though.
