Happy new month! Work has been vibrant so not sure I'll remember to get back w/ the Wednesday tip. Starting our thread and tagging here while I have a minute: Tuesday Reality Check: Many people only take breaks from work throughout the day to eat because they feel entitled to eat, but not do other things. If you need a break, you’re entitled to take a break! But if you’re not hungry, you’re not entitled to take a break to eat. Work on finding other things you can do during breaks to give yourself the reset that you need. Oops! I posted in the May thread. I should have remembered that it is a new month!
One of the best productivity tools I discovered at work was the Pomodoro technique. This is for times when one is working by oneself - not meetings or phone/Zoom calls. The technique consists of setting a timer for 25 mins, and then 5 mins. The 25 mins is for concentrated work - no distractions allowed. No email, no instant message chats, no answering the phone, unless that is your job. Then you do any of those things in the 5 mins before you start another 25 min timer. Sometimes in those 5 mins, I did have to check email or answer an IM message. We didn't use the phone much to call each other unless it was pre-planned. But a lot of the time, I would take a short walk - go to the restroom on a different floor and refill my coffee, tea, or water and come back. It was a good break to do those stairs and a short walk.

ermabom, I've tried the Pomodoro method in the past. I still have that sweet little tomato app on my phone, but haven't used it in a while. I'll resurrect it this week and give it a try again. Food breaks aren't an issue for me, but my lack of movement some work days is an ongoing challenge. Yesterday I was in a 1.5 hour work meeting and the facilitator provided no breaks, so at the one hour mark I took one on my own since my Apple Watch gave me the "time to stand" reminder. Today I'm working from home and plan on doing my desk cycle during my morning Teams meeting.

peacemama, I started using it for two reasons. One because we had too many distractions between email and IM messages. The second was that my hips and back complained about sitting all the time. I also had a thing I could put on my desk to raise my laptop to a standing level (no standing desks at the time) but I found I couldn’t stand and concentrate. So I stood during teleconferences and also walked around my office - I had a wired headset and we didn’t do video conferences. And I sat when I had to do work like writing, reviewing, drawing, etc. That is when the Pomodoro helped me get things done.

Normal day yesterday. I resisted STs to snack at night. I also didn't want to exercise because it was lunch time before I was able to. But I did and ate a later lunch

Another insomniac night. I have switched from that drug (that keeps me up) to a traditional Indian topical remedy which seems to be working. But apparently the med is not the sole cause of my insomnia. I was pretty physically tired too yesterday. However, I made a mistake in that I didn't think of using the guided meditation to get to sleep. I have to update my card on the subject so I remember it.
Big credit: snuck in the exercise before needing to cook dinner.

I’ve got 12 days of tracking under my belt! We ate in six days last week, five dinners I made. It seems kind of stupid but it feels like a huge feat as the house is still pretty torn up. I’m taking out pork tenderloins today for dinner tonight.
I was supposed to do a 5k with my daughter tomorrow, but I tweaked my knee doing the practice run with her a couple weeks ago so her dad is running with her. I’m bummed but it is what it is. Running is definitely not good for me.

Here. Still zooming, still tracking. Cooked and packaged food for the week. Plenty of good choices for snacks as well. Up to me to follow the plan. Exercise is really scattershot. I will just shoot for 25k reward on Pokémon GO. Seriously, it works.

I had lunch early, went to a seminar that was an hour away. So I got back only at dinner time and I was starving. Ate a bit more than I should have but nothing really bad. Distracted myself by calling family to chat. No exercise except for the running around in the am when I had to get stuff done before I took off for the seminar and also the standing and walking there. I tried to avoid sitting as much as I could.
Not too many credits because I didn't read cards, or log food or use the habit tracker. yesterday.

I've got two full weeks of tracking under my belt. No intentional exercise over the weekend but I'm always on the go. One of these days I'll get back on the scale but it won't be this week. We had dinner out Friday and Saturday night, but I made decent decisions. Snacking was a little more than it should have been last night but I tracked it all.
I'll be happy when the paint is finished in the house, maybe a couple more weeks depending on schedules. DBFs daughter is graduating on Friday and her high school softball season is over so that's one less thing. My daughter has a soccer tournament this weekend and I think I'm going to take the dogs with me so that DBF can continue with painting and the dogs won't be in his way.
I did take out burgers for dinner tonight so that'll be easy. We'll have corn on the cob and either side salad or roasted green beans on the side. I'll take some chicken out of the freezer tonight to have for dinner tomorrow night. Small steps.

Hello. DD's wedding was last Friday, I had an open house on Saturday, and dinner out on Sunday. Bottom line is that I gained, though not too bad. What seems to be much worse is that I still want to graze on inappropriate food. Now it's back to basics - more water, etc. Fortunately the largest quantity of leftovers is salad.
