Good morning. Cloudy and cool and I intend (no I have to) go outside and clean up more gardens today. Jose will be coming a week from tomorrow and with my busy schedule, every clear day is a gardening day. Will even try to get D to help me this weekend. Meanwhile, I need to bake Mexican brownies to bring to Sue and Peter's tonight for dessert. We also bought churros. She's making Mexican for dinner, obviously LOL. I'll bake this morning and garden and then shower in the afternoon.
I had a hard time getting to sleep but finally at 2:00 I was out and allowed myself to sleep in this morning. That's why I'm late coming here. I can't eat until 9:15 so all the meds are pushed back. Sigh.
Peg - I'm so sorry to hear about DDIL's mother. You and the rest of her family are certainly there to help in whatever way you all can. Hugs to all.
Khalua - so glad to see you posting here. I'll go check that video when I can.
Lori - why did I not realize that DD is preggers again? Boy I missed the big news.
Allison - what's on your busy agenda today?
Jeanne - I'll check out that new puzzle. Thanks for posting the link.
Must get this posted. BBL for sure.

Wow, I had a lot of reading to catch up on here!
Peg, so sorry for DDIL, it's such a hard time for her but know you will all pull together to do what you can. It's the waiting that can be so hard. Glad there are others that will be able to help with decisions. How nice DS's DD will be surprising him. See, already DD is coming with the dogs to help out! I had to admire you for thinking of washing windows but limiting it to those near where the table will be! Good plan! You had a really full day the other day, that was a lot of stopping but glad you were able to work in that visit as well.
Luv, maybe DD does't realize a second baby shows more quickly since those muscles had already been stretched out before so that may be why she thinks it could be twins? DTBIL's wife wouldn't host anything if we didn't hold her to a holiday! She may have gotten off the hook now as the family grows and our houses don't so she and we probably have the smallest houses for hosting, that's why we do the July 4th cookout/parade family gathering at our place using the patio, outdoors and garage for the most part. I hope the car is definitely fixed now and no more issues!
Allison, that was horrible driving to your mom's with that kind of traffic! I sure hope you don't have to face that again next week! What a sweet picture of you two, love it! Is she still getting her nails done?
J, DH will be so happy when he realizes how much better he will be able to see! It's just shocking!
Gina, are the new renters in? Nice to have spaces rented! Ugh on thinking of having to try to get your phones switched over with your additional concerns! I'm thinking I'll look at our taxes when they come back this year and see if they look feasible for me to follow since there shouldn't be much different for next year's taxes. If so, I can check with the firm we use to see if they would rather we try them on our own as I don't trust the local place or maybe they would have a suggestion if they'd like to concentrate on those more difficult ones they need to focus on. They may have one person there in the firm who just handles the easier ones too, who knows. If it's that easy for them though, I'd say they make pretty easy money off us then so why give us up?! Your situation is different though considering it all is in your hands only.
Caryn, so nice to hear of everyone's dinner plans and prep work!
This is the first year we won't have a family dinner since we're all traveling! Susan, DTBIL and we will be here in Florida and the other DBIL and wife are traveling out west. All the cousins are going to have a non-traditional dinner at a Chinese restaurant then gather at DNiece's house but she's the one who is still recovering from her surgery so she may want to rethink that decision! It will be a different year for sure.
RV, we've made reservations at Nashville RV campground. We should arrive on April 2nd and plan to leave on the 5th so it won't be a long stay but want Susan and DTBIL to get the experience! I know they already have some sights they want to take in so we'll work around as much as we can for them and I think DTBIL is only going to have 2 days so time will be tight I suspect!
Better get to our puzzles and breakfast. Susan and I are having a day of shopping and browsing Canal Street and Flagler Avenue while the rest golf 18 holes. We'll meet later for dinner and music. Last night we did another spot for dinner and music but have a gazillion bites from the outdoor venue and fear it may be more of the same tonight! We need to find a good bug spray!
Better get going!

Betty - Find off with picarin in it. It was the only thing that really kept the bugs off me. There is so much to see. Hope you get to the Parthenon. It is about 3 miles from downtown but well worth it. Downtown is really buzzing now. There are so many new places to visit and hear music and have a beer. The 3rd would be the better day to perhaps get together for lunch or dinner. We don't drive at night and probably won't want to walk all over town. There is no PT for E or cards for me that day. And we won't be hurt if you all want to spend all your time touring. Just let us know.
Haven't talked to DS yet today. Will call later and see if he is feeling a bit better.
Sounds like everyone's plans for this weekend will be busy.
NN to get dressed and do some errands.

Nancy - hope DS is feeling better today.
Betty - I second Nancy's suggestion of the Parthenon. It's in a lovely park and is quite the thing to see LOL.
Mexican brownies are out of the oven and cooling. Now to head outside...

Caryn - today's "busy" schedule was walking 4.5 miles followed by meeting DH for coffee. I am back at the condo now and will head to the pool for a bit then back into town for Happy Hour. We might watch baseball or basketball or Ted Lasso later - so many choices...
Betty - yes to mom getting her nails done every few weeks - she got them done on Monday. It is her one pleasure.

Hi! Sunny now and getting to 50. Would be nice if it weren’t for the wind.
Scruffy and I had a good walk. Went on our regular walk - first time in a while. And we went to the mall to walk before the supermarket. I got a free ham but don’t like to cook it. So, I’ll either cook it or donate it to the food bank.
Peg - sounds like you’re prepared for however the next few develop.
Allison - I bow to your 4.5 miles!
Betty - I third the recommendation of the Nashville Parthenon. Beautiful place. Nice balance to the busyness of downtown.
Mets have started their game.

I think I need a nap!! The downstairs is dusted, vacuumed and the bathroom wiped down. The sheets have been washed & dried and the bed remade, just waiting for the blanket to dry. I haven’t done the blankets downstairs in a long time, thought it was a good day to do that.
DGD called to say she just can’t come this weekend. She has a very busy calendar and too many trips coming up, while talking about it she starting crying cause she really wanted to come home, but it sounds like it was a good plan to not do it this weekend, she will come if / when DDIL’s mom passes and the plans are made. Also DDer called to say she is going to wait and come tomorrow morning. The rooms she will use have been done, so now I can just put my feet up and know I’m ready. Oh, well, I haven’t done the windows yet, so that’s still on the list.
Ugh, got a jury duty postcard in the mail. I did the online questionnaire, the term is 2 months starting 5/01. I think you can opt out at 80, but that’s not until 2025 for me. We opted DH out last time, as he was already over 80 and with his hearing being so bad, it wouldn’t have been easy for him to catch it all.
Allison - so glad mom has that one lasting pleasure. I might get my toes done next week. I remember when you used to get your nails done and always had something fun on your ring fingers. Sounds like a nice day for you. Good job getting your walk in, I haven’t done mine yet, but maybe I can get it done yet this afternoon. It’s 60* so maybe even do it outside!?!
Caryn - I’ll bet your house smells amazing. Are you using something ‘hot’ ie: 🌶️ hot, for the brownies?
Nancy - hope DSon is doing okay.
Betty - funny, when our former tax guy retired he and his secretary said I could probably do our taxes myself. However, I’m willing to fork over the $$ to let someone else fill in all the blanks and know that they are up to date on any new laws or changes. So as long as I’m able to take them there I’m going to do it. I’ve probably told the story before of when I took a tax accounting class at the trade school (AIB) i attended after HS. I remember that NONE of us had the same answer (well, a couple might have but they probably worked together on it) anyway, only ONE student had the right answer. That’s pretty much when I knew I’d probably never do my own taxes. Although I did before we were married and had the farm stuff to consider. Also did the kids’ early on. Sounds like a nice break on the way home.
Going to read the paper, and I really might see if I can get a nap in this afternoon.

Oh boy. 90 minutes in what became hot, removing leaves, old stalks, and weeds in the long garden and one other. That only leaves the big garden down by the street and the back garden along the wall. I think about 75 minutes is probably better right now, given that the prednisone and antibiotics are knocking me out. I have tomorrow and Sunday to do the front and Monday or Wednesday to do the back. D agreed to rake out the foundation bushes. Whew.
So I'm drinking water and probably will lie down for a few minutes to rest my muscles. Then upstairs to shower.
Peg - your house is ready whenever the family comes. This is an unsettled week for you all. And yes, I put cinnamon, ancho chile and a bit of cayenne, plus chocolate chips into a Dunkin Heinz chewy brownie mix. They smell good.
Jeanne - glad you all got out for your walks!
Wordle in 2 and a perfect Connections. Yes, purple was stupid. That's my least favorite type of answer.

Did our errands. The super Kroger in Brentwood really got my gall (sorry Peg) today. On one of busies shopping days of the year, they closed down the customer service place. They said I could see the person at the self check out line. Whoa - They had lines out the kazoo and the guy said " She had to run an errand and will be back in a little bit. The manager should run it if no one else can. I don't read real good and the pictures looked the same. I bought conditioner instead of shampoo and had a large coupon for a good discount. I didn't want to just return it. Went to our local Krogers and someone was there - usually there's nobody there either. Told her my situation and she told me to go find what I needed and she would replace it for the same amount I paid. Went to look and their display was all jumbled up. We use the Fructose shampoos. There was one with a lose cap and a hole in the top. Finally found what I was looking for in the back behind all the conditioners, there lay 2 bottles of what I needed. Crisis averted.
Vacuumed the whole house with my new lightweight dirt devil. I cannot push the Hoover wind-tunnel around. DH said he was going to work in the yard. I keep telling him I am going to hire the guy across the street who has a lawn business. DH has one excuse after the other. To windy, to cool, I don't think is is able to admit that there are some things he can't do anymore. It definitely need to be done before my DD gets here on the 10th. I have given him a few extra days and then will call Troy. He does lots of the yards here because there are lots of old people and widows who can't do it any more. I am finding DH to be more stubborn every day. I might be bald and have a hole in my tongue in a few days. What's a mother to do?. Will call DS in a few and see how he is doing.

DSis got here about 5pm yesterday. After they got settled, I made a pitcher of margaritas and we had nice time chatting. Dinner was easy, DH BBQ'd a chicken, I baked some yams and sauteed spinach. YUMMY. This morning we all got up a bit late. We went for a walk, DSis could go for about a mile or so, but DNiece and I did the full 3 miles. Fun to show them the views I enjoy. A short trip to the local strawberry and flower stands, then back for lunch. I'll work for about an hour, then we'll bake my grandmother's cheesecake to bring tomorrow. It's the one thing she used to do for my cousins that they loved, so I hope it comes out good and is appreciated. Have only seen these cousins on zoom during the past 20 years. Last time we were together was about 2004.
Nancy - sorry the shopping trip was such a hassle - I have a stubborn DH too. Just imagine when I tell him his power saws have to go. I've told him, he can't use them when he's home alone.
Caryn - spicy brownies, sounds interesting
Peg - hugs at this difficult time. It's never easy to see an elderly relative pass from this world to the next, but during a holiday, it is especially stressful. She sounds like she was well loved by her family, can't ask for more than that.
Strands was really tough and I'm fairly decent in french. But the weird diagonals made it hard to find words. TONS of hints, but few of the correct words.
Jeanne - I'm sure the food bank will appreciate the donation.
better go, gotta get a tiny bit of work done today

Oh my, DTBIL whose wife had taken that fall back in November, had an MRI last night. They called today and said to go to the ER as it appeared she may have an infection in her spine. She didn't answer when they called so called DTBIL who them called DDIL who went next door to wake DSIL. She had trouble getting her up so called DNiece (their DD). She drove out and got her with help, to the ER. As it turns out, she may have to be sent by ambulance to Madison for surgery on her back. It's still being determined and DTBIL is beginning to pack things up in his camper in case he needs to head home. I worry for him driving alone. Thought maybe he could get a flight and then fly back to get the camper but don't think that's his plan. She still is waiting for the decision and will definitely be in the hospital at least a couple of days as they are getting antibiotics in by IV right now.
Susan and I tried to shop Flagler Avenue today but the parking was impossible and traffic horrid. We ended up hitting a couple of shops on Canal Street then stopped at a local place for fruit, bagels and fruity cream cheese Susan thought would be good. We returned and had a snack while I cleaned out the fridge a bit and got it organized some. Much better now!
We need to walk the garbage down to the dumpster while we wait for the golfers to get back. They're running late too.
We did pick up some spray that everyone says works amazingly. I sure hope so, it cost $18 for a small bottle! Wish I'd have read your recommendations before we'd left. Oh well.
Better get moving before they return. Then it's dinner and music unless they want to hold off to see what happens with DTBIL's plans. DNiece has left the hospital so I assume they aren't transferring her today. They did say she would need to go by ambulance as they wouldn't want her chancing a fall. DNiece is now back at the farm, updating the family. We should hear another update shortly from DTBIL.

DD had her first doctors appointment this morning and there is a heartbeat so that’s good because the last baby didn’t make it till six weeks so I think DD feels a little bit better she still sick but just kinda dry heaving so I guess that’s kind of good. DGD was here this morning. She’s so fun but I had to leave take my mother to the hairdresser go pick up Taxes. I wouldn’t bought some shoes and I picked her up and took her to the co-op because she wanted to go I can’t believe she walked through there but she did then I went home and did her groceries and came home and packed my stuff I am pooped. I’m such a bad mom I told DD that she needs to give us two days not to come over because she comes over every day which I love because I love seeing Lylah but I can’t get anything done. She takes it so personally I said it’s not. Personally, you know I love both of you, but I have things I need to get done between she and my mom, I can’t get them done. Dh should’ve just called her and said we don’t feel good. You can’t come over today. I said I’m not like that you know how blunt I am! DD is so funny in color. She tells DGD on the phone that I don’t want to see her I said oh stop that! Just need a couple days. Actually we’re watching her tomorrow because Dd works df is taking her to swim lessons and he’ll drop her off here so we can take her to the local Easter Easter egg hunt. That will be fun.
peg, I’m so sorry your DL is going through that so hard to lose a mother. I don’t even want to think about it. I’m so lucky to have mine. Speaking of which I told her I didn’t like driving her car and she says quick complaining about it. You’ve been complaining about driving my car the whole time. At least you have a car to drive. I said well mines newer than yours that has more gadgets that I like. So tonight I called her up and then I called her back and I said oh I forgot to tell you I still don’t like your car just started laughing. I’m glad she’s got a good sense of humor.
Gina sounds like a wonderful time with your dsis and niece!
Betty that is so scary for DTwin bil wife how scary I bet he’s upset! Enjoy your time with Susan.
Caryn sounds like you’re working hard prednisone helps energy sometimes!
Rv I have a heck of a time pushing our big Shark vacuum!
hi Allison enjoy that nice weather it was nice here but nippy!
Think I’ll go read!

DSisIL is staying at the local hospital on IV antibiotics for now. Hope they do the trick but she may have other issues. For now, one step at a time. He was able to talk with her and felt better since she sounded better. He will head home tomorrow, taking a couple of days. We now have him in our family Life 360 so we can all see his progress.
He joined us for dinner and enjoyed the foods he hadn't had yet, as did Susan. We skipped the music and came back as it was later than we'd planned.

Good (too early) morning. Another broken night's sleep. IIWII. Prednisone is done on Wednesday, thank goodness. Had a really nice time last night at Sue and Peter's - she made chicken mole, and homemade guac and salsa. My brownies and the churro donuts with chocolate sauce were a hit. Today is more gardening and, if my absentee ballot didn't come, then I need to go to the government center and vote for the presidential primary. Not that it matters - only one candidate per party. I think it'll be a light turnout on Tuesday.
To ease my mind and maybe help me sleep at night I got up this morning and created a calendar of all the stuff I need to do this week, and when.
Betty - boy I hope DTBIL gets home safely and that his wife will be okay. That's very scary. Is Susan staying the rest of your stay in FL or going home before you?
Luv - congrats and yay for the heartbeat. IMHO, boundaries are important and your DD should respect yours just like you do hers.
Allison - I must ask - "Nolly"?
Gina - how nice to have your family there for Easter weekend! And to take them on your walk, etc. Enjoy them.
Nancy - ugh on the shampoo thing and double ugh on not having the yard done. As I know myself, it's very hard work.
Well the newspaper's not here yet so I'll read the Washington Post on its app and wait. I can't eat breakfast for a while anyway... After breakfast I'll do laundry. Then we'll head outside to do the gardens. I need to get them done this weekend, as we're expecting rain Tues - Thursday and we leave Friday at 3 for on overnight in Syracuse and then off to Canada. Tonight we're meeting family for dinner at an Indian restaurant so we need to leave home by 5:15.

Morning all, it’s 39* and we had a shower last night. Didn’t amount to much, but it sure sounded good while it was raining. DDer will be coming later this morning. She was still home the last I checked. Not a big deal. I think we will have hamburgers for lunch to go with the potato salad from the other day. That will get one more thing out of the fridge. I also want to make the rolls today for our lunch tomorrow. The numbers keep fluctuating but I’m sure a dozen rolls should be enough. Also thinking about making some caramel rolls to have for our breakfast before we go to church. Yes, I think that’s a plan!!
Caryn - that sounds so good. I didn’t enter my email so I could read it, but it looked great. Sorry about your sleepless night. I did another pm tablet, but won’t tonight. While it does help me sleep it often leads to weird dreams. It also tends to dry me out, so lots of water for me today. “Nolly” is a new PBS show. We watched the first one, but it wasn’t our thing, so DH said not to DVR it. We watched some random movie from Netflix last night. Tonight, if we don’t watch basketball, I might see if I can find ‘The Holdovers’. Someone here mentioned it (I think it was here). I wrote it down as a recommendation, that’s what I was going to watch last night but this came up, so I clicked on it instead.
Betty - oh my, Poor DTBIL, being so far from home with his wife sick. I hope he doesn’t push it too hard on the way home.
Luv - how exciting that she heard the heartbeat. Yay. I would have trouble with a daily visit too, we all need some space to do what we need to do. I worry about DSisIL as she babysits her youngest grandchild and then takes care of DBIL on the weekends, and now her DSon has a broken ankle and she is trying to help him too. She is spread too thin sometimes.
Gina - what a lovely beginning for your sister and niece visit. Can’t wait to hear what else you will be doing.
Nancy - what a frustrating shopping trip for you. Glad you did get it taken care of, but yes, super frustrating.
I need to get some breakfast and get dressed. It’s “Go Hawks’ day here for our lady Hawkeyes. CO coaches and more are talking about how they are going to take Caitlin Clark out. I guess there is a lot of talk like that about her now. One of the editorials I read, talked about how we elevate people so we can knock them down. That team has played with a lot of heart, and her teammates support and protect her.

Good morning - yesterday I thought I was losing my voice and today I have chest congestion - sigh for a spring cold. I still plan to take a walk in a few minutes then read pool-side to "bake"it out of me. Tonight at 7 we will go hear our friends for some outdoor music. DDIL texted she has had DGS3+ (turning 4 in July) in undies since Wednesday. He occasionally still pees in the undies but she is sticking with it - fingers crossed he will finally get it and we won't be "training" him in June when we watch the boys.
Caryn - Nolly is a series on PBS Sunday nights as part of their Masterpiece Theater.
Peg - enjoy lunch with DD.
Betty - sending speedy recovery wishes to DSisIL
Nancy -how is your DS?
Time to do some puzzles before my walk,

Good morning! Sunny and bright but windy day here. Got up still sleepy. Hate when that happens!
Scruffy and I took a short walk and now I’m waiting for DH. He says he’ll be ready around 10.
Luv - so good to hear DD had a good appointment.
Betty - any word on DSIL today? What will DTBIL do? I don’t even know hi, but worry about him driving back himself!
Allison - hope the cold passes quickly! Good news about DGS!
Peg - you’re happy to see rain and I’m over it! We have 3 days of rain next week.
Looking forward to the Iowa game later. Watched Oregon and Zaga last night. I had the sound off while watching the Yankees on my iPad. Then the power drained on the iPad and I missed the exciting ending!

I'm back. Finished our laundry and had breakfast and then took an hour's nap. Ahhh. I feel better.
Allison - hope the baking helps. Feel better!
Jeanne - it's nice here. I hope you have a good walk. Will it be indoors or outdoors?
Peg - big article in the NYTimes on how Caitlin's "number" jerseys are selling like hotcakes. Woohoo. Also a sad article about a spill in Iowa that's killing all the fish in a river complex. Iowa is well covered in the country's national newspaper LOL.

Luv, so exciting to hear the heartbeat. I know you like doing things up "right" when you have a dinner so it makes it extra hard with DGD there plus your limitations. Me? I could put out paper plates and they'd all come just as well, LOL. Just call us red-necks! One DSIL used to do it up right as well but even she has turned to the less stress solution.
RV, glad DS is doing better.
Caryn, isn't it sad that they have to think of "taking someone down" to raise themselves up? Oh no on the Iowa spill, I hadn't heard that!
Peg, how is DDIL doing? I take it her DM is still hanging in there. DGD should realize it may have been a "meant to be" thing that she can't get away right now with a funeral looming in the not very distant future. I can smell those rolls and they aren't even baking yet! I've been finding more baking recipes I'm looking forward to making when we get back home. Can't wait for my real kitchen though this one has worked well considering.
Susan will be riding back with us including our short stay in Nashville. So sorry DBIL couldn't be a part of it but he left this morning about 8:30 and will listen to his music etc as he drives. He once drove straight through to Florida so could do it if he had to but that's not his plan at this point. His plan is to get to Tennessee or a little more than half way, finishing the drive tomorrow. It's good we can see where he is now with the Life 360 and his DD is so glad we got him on that so she can see as well and fill in her DM or let her see just where he's at. He knows she's getting good care and is in a good place for now while he drives back so if he gets tired, he'll just pull over for awhile and catch a few winks then head back out but will get a good night of sleep tonight at a campground somewhere.
We had soft cooked boiled eggs for breakfast (none of us had had them in years so why I'd thought of it, I have no idea), they were very good with our leftover toasted cheese bread toasted and last of the cinnamon raisin muffins plus fruit. We're heading to the National Seashore today and DFs will kayak over. Tonight we plan to go to the Garlic for dinner, a favorite more upscale outdoor experience here. There is no favorite meal there as they are all amazing! I do know I'm ordering the Pollo Marsala! DBIL had planned on having the rack of lamb but at least he did get to experience it and we all had the lamb chop appetizer so I'm happy we did. I guess I need to find out how RV makes her lamb chops and give them a try at home.
Only 2 more days here. We all laughed this morning when Susan said she was glad it was only Friday so she wished all her friends a happy Good Friday today! It happens to us all at some point down here! Best get ready to head out for a bit of exploring! Have a great day all!
