Nancy - glad DS+DDIL can help you!
Betty - wow! Just 2 more days! Enjoy the day!
Caryn - it’s a pretty day but windy. So, the mid 50s are feeling 10* lower.
We had a good walk at the mall, then picked up wine and an Italian hero to spit for lunch. Very yummy and very filling! I’ve emptied the dishwasher and cleaned up after breakfast and lunch and started the laundry. Looks like 3 loads today. We have the Mets on now and hen we will cheer on the Iowa women and tonight, more Yankees.
Sorry to hear of the spill in Iowa! They say that toxic stuff spilled out of the cargo ship that hit the bridge in Baltimore. Hope it doesn’t mess w the crabs down there!

DDer decided on strawberry / pretzel ‘salad’ for our dessert. The pretzel part is done, the jello cooling in the fridge, the cream filling is also done and waiting to put in the cooled pretzel base. Next up we are going to do the scalloped potatoes today, cooking part way through, so we can finish them tomorrow. Right now the plan is to go to church, then DDer and I will go to the care facility where DDIL’s DMom is, then home to finish up lunch, since DGD isn’t here we will eat a bit later, 1:30 - 2:00 I’m thinking. So glad to have DDer here to cook with me. Makes it more fun! Oh, the rolls are rising too. Only first rise, but it’s so hot in this kitchen it shouldn’t take long.
Caryn - yes, to both. The craziness around Caitlin is really out of control. I do not know how she and the team have managed throughout this season. The fertilizer spill was awful. Because it was through a hose it bypassed the containment that is required for any of the tanks etc. not just the fish kill but the impact on the area for wells and things.
Jeanne - thanks for cheering with me…. Watching LSU & UCLA, and it’s back and forth. First we have to get past CO.
Nancy - so glad you are getting help for the yard. I know how that is appreciated.

The kids ( child labor ) are gone. Connected my new hose 25' , one of those coil ones, and cleaned out the bird bath and watered the phlox that was weeded and Lesa put black mulch around we. Coiled the hose into a flower pot and put it at the corner of the deck.
She and I went to Lowe's and got 5 bags of mulch on sale for 10.00 and I got a lightweight hose I can handle. Need a new washer on the sprinkler head. My back is killing me. We have been so busy that I haven't had time for personals and really feel bad about that. DH is napping right now. He tried to do stuff when DS was here but he was getting slower and slower. When will he realize he can't do what he used to do at 50 or 70 or even 85. His body is tired and so am I arguing with him.
Luv - How exciting to hear a heartbeat. I was huge with #2 but I am short and the kid had nowhere to go but out. I had one maternity top with carousel horses all around it and I looked like the carousel by the time I delivered #2. Know what you mean about "me" time and "our" time.
Peg - sounds like you have a houseful again. Feel sorry for DDIL watching her Mom in her last days.
Betty - DTBIL will have a lot on his hands by the time he gets home. Would have loved to have met him in Nashville.
Caryn - I admire how you're able to work in your gardens. My back is killing me just trying to attach a hose to a faucet and cleaning up a few things.
Jeanne - Sounds like you're eating high on the hog today.
Allison - Enjoy you last few days in FL. You have a lot to take care of when you get back to PA. Loved the pix of you and your Mom.
Gina - Have a beautiful holiday with your family.
This after noon I need to start in on my broccoli salad for tomorrow. Having last of the frozen spaghetti sauce tonight.
Everyone take care and BBL
Nancy

Nancy - my back hurts too. I was able to rake all the gardens - but I was so tired, I left the piles of leaves and dead stalks on our grass and I didn't get down on my hands and knees to pull out the dead stuff. It's too much. Glad you got one of those hoses. We have 2 and I like them. Yay for your "child labor"!!
Betty - glad Susan can get a bit of a vacation on the way home with you guys. You'll have fun.
Jeanne - did you picnic with your sandwich? It's really nice here. I was out there with only a t-shirt and sweatshirt (plus jeans of course teehee).
Did Wordle in 4 and a perfect connections. Also did 30 minutes of Duolingo French. Might do more soon. We need to leave here at 5:15 and I'm done with all of today's chores. And since we're going out for dinner, I don't need to bother with that either. Yay

I am back inside from reading at the pool - bright sun in the high 70's. I'll shower in a bit. We are eating leftovers before heading out for music.
Nancy - glad you got a lot accomplished - and hope the back feels better.
Betty - two more days for you and 5 for me - we leave Thursday and all day Wednesday I will be with DM and the eye doctor.
Peg - we are all supporting your teams!

Back from my Uncle's 90th. He is my mom's brother, 9 years younger. He'll be 90 on Tuesday. My cousin got the whole family together for the occasion. One even came from Australia with his 2 kids. I had not seen him in 20 years. It was a nice day. There was a slide show celebrating his life with lots of family pictures. He and my mom became very close in later life, talking almost every day. He misses her terribly. With his daughter's help, my uncle wrote a memoir about his life. Great idea to share with the younger generations. I knew he had played basketball at Stanford, but didn't know he had to go up against Bill Russell for his first game, his freshman year! He didn't do very well.
This was why my sister came up to visit. The party was in Santa Barbara, where my uncle lives. My brother was going to come, but didn't want to drive 4 hrs each way in the rain. We had some rain on the way home, but not horrible.

Whew, I’m tired, but it’s been a very good day. DDer got here about 9:30 and we went into the little town to shop at the fun market there, then a stop at $ General for a few things. We did brats and hot dogs for lunch.
After lunch we made the strawberry / pretzel ‘salad’ / dessert, and the scalloped potatoes that we baked about 1/2 way. I did the rolls then we cleaned it all up and made homemade cheese burger pizza for our dinner.
Of course we watching the Iowa girls, and WOW were they on fire!! It’s so fun to see them all clicking and playing so well. Can it continue? The media is all excited about the match up between Iowa and LSU again.
Gina - how awesome that a so many came for your Uncle’s big birthday. He and DDIL’s mom were born the same year. So glad he was able to share so many memories, I have been thinking about all the stories DDIL’s mom will take with her when she goes. Sorry your DBro couldn’t make it, but that is a long drive, and in not the best conditions, it would have been hard, but it’s still sad that he missed seeing the cousins.
Allison - thanks for supporting the Hawkeye women with me. Oh, you don’t have much time left there. We found out today that we will have to go to Des Moines to go with DBIL to take his dog to the vet for her on-going ear issues. We have to be there to get her to a 7:30 appointment. I HATE driving in Des Moines, and I HATE it more to do it in rush hour, even tho’ rush hour there is nothing like you would have on the east coast or for Gina out west, but still….. anyway, we’ll do it and hope for the best.
Caryn - we have not cleaned up our yard as well as I want, but both of us are feeling our ages. It’s a lot of work. I do have two places I really want to work on. We’ll see if I can do some before we leave on Monday, then I will be home on Wednesday, we’ll see what I can get done before it gets away from me.
Nancy - you did way better at Connections than I did. I did get it but only one guess left! It is hard for DDIL, plus it’s so difficult because they have been hosting her family, repeatedly!! All that bedding and towels, and food to prepare. Plus taking time to go be with her mom. So hard.
Anyway, we have caramel rolls for breakfast and dinner rolls, tomorrow we will have to do the asparagus, heat the ham and reheat the potatoes. Should be easy(ish).

Just trying to catch up. Read, but to tired to think. Talked with DD and she is helping her dad a lot. She had to go help him with his taxes as paperwork is not really his thing. It's about 2 hour drive each way for her. DD tried to explain to her brother to take it easy following his surgery. He is another example of an older man. He thinks 3 punchlines means everything is OK. See ya manana. Nancy

Good morning and happy Easter. On this meaningful day, I hope each of you who celebrate finds joy with family and friends.
Me? It's a normal Sunday but with "getting ready for travel" tasks. Going to wash our towels. Also visit the 2's for a bit. Then probably to the supermarket to get a few things for this week, including food for me for Tuesday's poll day. And D and I will finish the raking and clearing of the gardens - this time the foundation plantings. It's really nice today. Starting tomorrow there will be 4 days of rain, including some snow on Thursday!
I did have a solid night's sleep after a fun time with our family at dinner: DSIL flew up here from the boat in the Bahamas to care for our nephew's dog while he goes on vacation, so she, us and two sisters and their DHs all met centrally at an Indian restaurant. As always, we had lots of laughs.
Today I stepped down to 1 Prednisone pill/day, which should help my sleep. Last pill is Wednesday. Last antibiotic is tomorrow night. I'll be glad to be done and get my body back to "normal".
Will post this and BBL to see who stopped by.

Good morning and blessed Easter for those who celebrate. I drove to the Dollar Tree and got DH the Sunday paper with the puzzle section. Now off to take a walk. Last night I stayed up to watch SNL - some skits were funny, others - ehh. The cold opening about hawking the bibles was pretty funny. My cold has now moved into my chest but my voice is better.
Wordle in 4, Quordle in 8, Duotrig in 36 and a perfect connections (purple was easy today, it was blue that I got last).

Happy Sunday! Happy Easter! 🐣🐇🌷
Sunny day here. Scruffy and I had a good walk. DH doesn’t want to walk today. I’ll have to figure out a good time to go by myself.
Nancy - good to hear about DS - hope he follows orders!
Allison - haven’t checked SNL yet. Lately, all I’m watching is the opener and weekend update.

Forgot to put the froen shrimp ring in the fridge to thaw last night. It is on the counter now and should thaw by 1:00 I hope. Need to hustle this morning because we have so much to do, stop and but a gift certificate at a nursery for the kids who helped clean up our yard yesterday. Go to DH's ex's house with a lot of the kids, grands, greatgrands, and then home and dinner with our neighbors at 5.00pm. BBL

I walked 3 miles this morning before we went out for brunch - I am stuffed. I will play some solitaire then read poolside if the sun stays out.
Nancy - put the shrimp in a baggie and place the baggie in water in the sink to speed the defrosting.

Lost a post… here’s the condensed version:
Up early to get ready for the family to come for caramel rolls and to go to church. It was lovely to have my kids in church with me today. DDIL’s DBro came for the rolls, then went to be with his mom, we split up after church, DH & DSon came home and DDIL, DDer and I went to visit her mom. She is not having a good day today, seemed uncomfortable, but there was lots of help for her.
DDIL, DDer & I came back home about 1:00, DSon had put the ham in the oven, we put the potatoes in (remember we prepped them yesterday). When DDIL’s DBro came about 2 we were ready to eat, only to find the potatoes weren’t done! Another 1/2 hour before they were ready. But dinner was well received, and leftovers sent home with all of them. I’m tired, but it was a good day, especially when DDIL gave me a big hug and thanked me for coming to visit her mom today. I’m so sad for them. I don’t think she will be with us long.
Tomorrow we have to go to DBIL’s. Seems his dog has an appointment to be sedated so they can see what’s going on with her ears. She has to be there at 7:30, we will go tomorrow, stay over night and get him and the dog to this appointment. Not sure if we will be able to come home Tuesday night?
The rest of the week is up in the air, except for Thursday when I have a hair appointment. I’d love to get a pedicure that day, but don’t think I can work it in. We have things to pick up for going to the lake on Friday, set the campers on Saturday, home on Sunday.
DDIL wants us to get this done, even if she can’t be there.
So that’s what’s happening with me today. I did read to catch up, but just too tired for personals.
Happy Easter to the rest of us who celebrate this day.

Happy BAMaversary!
Peg - sounds like a good day! Hope Ddils DMom is comfortable,
I’m waiting for=my prime rib to be ready. Still not at the right temp. I’ve got my stuff ready to make the Yorkshire pudding (DHs request).
Didn’t watch any basketball, just baseball.
Funny - this morning I had 2 baskets of laundry to put away and decided to empty my dresser to organize it for spring/summer. Did ok, just haven’t anything for donation pile. Anyway, after all that my Fitbit app said I did well with my “swimming”! Must have been all my arm movements unfolding and refolding the clothes!
Ok, enter go check the roast.
Enjoy!

Jeanne - yum on your dinner!
Peg - I'm sorry you need to get there so early. I remember how you dislike that trip. Hope all goes okay.
I tired D out so much with the gardening ( we finished it) that he's sleeping and we still haven't done anything about dinner LOL. Oooo - he just woke up. We ordered in a pizza. That works...
