My fridge is currently stocked with cut veggies, fresh fruit, and heat-n-eat meals that I prepped on Sunday.
I have a half dozen Kirkland hummus individual packets with a BB date for yesterday that are on the priority eat list for this week.

I always have fresh veggies in the fridge. I also have two boxes of my favorite salad mix - it is called herb mix and is from BJs Wholesale Club. It has parsley and cilantro added to it in addition to the usual mix of salad greens. I eat it plain for lunch - pick up a leaf and eat it. I eat a big bowl every day.
Had an excellent day yesterday re: reading cards. Read them at all the right times for a change instead of reading them at odd times when I didn't need to read them.

ermabom, Trader Joe's also has a delicious herb salad mix. I have an unopened bag in my produce drawer waiting to be used to make SW salads, but I think I'll try a small bowl of it plain and will report back.

Sadly no TJs near me! I can't wait to hear your report.
I eat arugula like this also. No arugula in my herb mix though.

In honor of ermabom (hopefully!) getting the bandage off, what can you take off from your habits/routines/plans/notions to make things easier? For me, it's the idea I'll get a pastry when I meet a friend for coffee. Not necessary. Fingers crossed mare! I really really need to develop a new bedtime routine that doesn't involve coming down to the family room to avoid disturbing SO after he goes to sleep. We read together but he goes to sleep at 9-ish and I'm not sleepy till past 10 pm. So I move downstairs and snacking is within reach. I work on it and some days I am able to read cards and avoid it. But other days, I just don't have the energy to fight it. There are chairs in other rooms but none are as comfortable as the recliner in the family room.

Power went out at 7:45AM yesterday. This is my grocery shopping day, but I didn't want to go and fill up the fridge if no power. DH went to the sandwich shop to get lunch. Power came back on while he was gone. I texted him, hoping he wouldn't get sandwiches. He didn't see the text but deli was closed, so yay. We were able to have usual lunch and I got my grocery shopping in.

The bandage is off! I still can’t life weights - he said to start with 5 lbs and build up gradually from there. But I can wash my hair so I’m going to exercise tomorrow.
Since a number of us are working on bedtime routines, should we brainstorm ideas?

I'm in for bedtime chat!
What I do/have done (rules work for me as an upholder. You may find different language more effective): 1. Brush teeth early and put on pj's 2. Make a rule that I do not eat in pj's 3. Make a rule that I do not eat after xxx time 4. Schedule something for that time (mediation, yoga, game w/ family) 5. Set a time to read an ARC that is particular to having a strong ending to the day. 6. Make a list of things to do in the evening besides eat to unwind and then create a place to make it easy (maybe a basket w/ a juicy book, face masks, nail polish, coloring materials, etc.) 7. Plan for tomorrow and write out the credits from the day 8. Create a streak and "don't break the chain" a la Gretchen Rubin. Create guideline for skip days like they have in Duolingo
I'll keep thinking

Create guideline for skip days like they have in Duolingo What do mean by this? I've done 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. #2 doesn't work for me as I hang out in PJs a lot during the day when I don't have to go out. My problem is the "I don't really care right now' attitude that cards don't really address. If I care at that time, and I do sometimes, I read cards, I listen to guided meditation, or work on something that I need to do anyway and then I'm good. My new attempt is to go to bed at the same time or earlier than SO to avoid the problem all together. It is very interesting. My problem only occurs till about midnight. If I wake up at 2 or 3 in the am and am awake for a few hours, I have no desire to snack. I can't quite figure that out. eta: last night I went to bed before SO. Space between indulgence and deprivation: No BS doable hunger. Am I hungry? Have I had enough? "5. Set a time to read an ARC that is particular to having a strong ending to the day." Are you willing to share some examples, mare?

ermabom, one issue with streaks is breaking it can lead to not getting back on. In Duolingo, you can earn these skip days (my kid had it so this is vague info). Maybe you say you still "count" the chain with some allowances to mkss. peacemama, sure! Some things I would put on there: Advantages to strong endings: 1. Go to sleep happy with my choices 2. Not having to catch up tomorrow. 3. Keeping commitment to myself 4. Gving myserlf a chance to learn how to soothe beyond choosing to chew 5. Moving myself closer to the items on my daytime ARC 6. I don't have to stop if I do not start 7. Modeling healthy decisions for my kid 8. More likely to earn a blue dot 10. Getting to practice using food only to solve the problem of hunger

mare, yes, I understand now. I do Spanish on Duolingo every day. There is a ‘streak saver’ that you can buy which gives you a ‘free’ check if you skip a day. Once you use it, you have to buy another. I have used it when I was traveling (so a day when I’d be on a plane for more than 24 hours). But you do get a blank ‘flame’ for the day - each day you meet your lesson goal, a new flame comes up on your streak. If you use the streak saver, you get a blank flame but the number doesn’t start at 1 again. I like your night-time ARC idea and I think I’m going to modify my ‘eating at night’ card to reflect some of these ideas. I have stuff that is similar on it as well as strengthening my resistance muscle and things to do instead. I read it every night at 9 pm but it doesn’t resonate on the days when my brain acts defiant. Done! Edited both my daytime ARC and added a nighttime ARC

My Apple Watch has a 1 minute reflection set for each evening. I'm going to add an evening ARC to my reflection routine. Thanks for that amazing list, mare. Several resonated with me. ermabom, Thanks for suggesting that we discuss evening strategies.

peacemama , I have been doing random mindfulness breaks in the afternoon/evening but I use added a silent alarm to my Fitbit at night to do a mindfulness break. I will read the nighttime ARC and do some pranayama then. eta: you are welcome!

I thought to might be helpful to share bedtime routines also -
We eat dinner at 6:30 ish. Around 7 pm, after I’ve cleaned up the dinner things, I go upstairs or to the basement and work on spinning/knitting/weaving till about 8:30 or 9 pm. After that I usually brush my teeth, and curl up with either a book or a mindless TV thing (currently watching a BBC vet series) but sometimes I watch an online weaving class till I’m sleepy. Usually that is around 10-10:30 pm. I try not to go downstairs at all after I go up but if I have to, try to just do what I need to do.
Tonight i have a meeting from 7-8:30 or 9 and my challenge is to upstairs immediately after, not hang around downstairs.

Part of my challenge is that my evenings lack consistency. DH and I are both retired so our schedules are flexible and this summer we have regularly had houseguests, evening events, or travel that impacts my meals and after dinner routine.

Well, I did all the stuff we discussed and that I had planned but it didn't work yesterday. Onward and upward. My plan for the rest of July is to really get over this night time problem.
I did exercise. I was able to lift 5 lb weights so I'll go up to 7.5 lbs next time.
